LANGUAGE AND COMMUNICATION WORKSHOPS FOR CHILDRENHome Talk 1 - Delayed Language Development Workshop (1 Hour)
Our homes and our day-to-day routines are filled with language learning opportunities. More often than not, the hard part is to identify opportunities as they arise. This experience is geared towards helping families seek opportunities for communication that already exist within their routines. With a little forethought and some minor adaptations, the home environment has the potential of becoming the optimal language-learning experience. This workshop is aimed at families with toddlers with a delayed language development. Home Talk 2 - Complex Communication Needs Workshop (3 Hours) Our homes and our day-to-day routines are filled with language learning opportunities. With a little forethought and some minor adaptations, the home environment has the potential of becoming the optimal language-learning experience. This workshop is aimed for families with children with Complex Communication Needs. Body Talk Workshops: An alternative approach to language intervention (5 weeks) Movement sessions for children with language delay or disorder, targeting social communication skills. It uses a creative movement approach instead of verbal language in an attempt to become more appreciative of the power of non-verbal communication. 93% of communication is non-verbal. This approach places all participants at a level playing field. This 5-class series attempts to create a space in which meaningful connections can be forged. It is targeted towards children & teens with social communication difficulties and a family member (ideally 13+ years of age). Ideally the dyad remains the same throughout this 5-class series. |
